Pension Pain

From the NYT: IBM to freeze pension plans to cut costs.

it would freeze pension benefits for its American employees starting in 2008 and offer them only a 401(k) retirement plan in the future.

Under 35? You're probably never getting a pension.

i hope i have as big a pension as possible, but i'd rather my company froze the increases in benefits instead of acting according to a schedule of benefit increases (perhaps selected during rosier economic times) that drives our pension plan into economic unsustainability.
