$20,000 If You Ship Out Now

The Army is offering a bonus that's more than a year's salary for new recruits. 90% are taking it.

" The $20,000 bonus can be enticing, especially to those who lack a steady job, languish in debt or are worried about their future."

Don't know who that could describe...

The military doesn't tell new recruits that any money they offer as incentive has strings attached.
For example, recruits usually have to wait 30-days after they get to thier first duty assignment to apply for it (it's all red tape after that), it is gone if they fail their chosen career field's training (they retrain recruits into whatever the military wants); and worst of all, the federal government takes 27% right off the top in taxes before handing the money over.

I said it to my military buddies when I left: I wouldn't take a million dollars to re-enlist. Lies...

Yea, not worth it.

You're way better off getting a couple of roommates and working a crap job than you are having your roommates chosen for you (by the military) working a crap job (being in the military) that has extreme risks to your health and well being (you can't even imagine, death is preferable to what some of these guys come home with).
